Cuscal’s client and regulatory reporting was built on a foundation of Excel spreadsheets and macros – not scalable, difficult to maintain, and dependent on a single operator to produce each month. Reports delivered to clients through account managers were largely static and offered limited analytical value. Any change to report content or format was time-consuming and often not feasible. Regulatory reporting to the RBA, ASIC, and APRA required significant manual effort with no automated pipeline. As a result, Cuscal faced real operational constraints:
Our Solution
Agile Insights partnered with Cuscal to design and implement a modern, cloud-based data and analytics platform built on Microsoft Azure and Power BI — replacing manual, spreadsheet-driven processes with an integrated, scalable reporting environment. Rather than simply replicating existing reports in a new tool, the program established a governed data foundation capable of supporting client reporting, regulatory submissions, market risk analytics, and
strategic insights. Delivery was structured in focused phases, with each stage building on the last to extend coverage and embed capability across the organisation. The program expanded from client and regulatory reporting through to risk analytics, transaction intelligence, and an ongoing enterprise support model covering Cuscal’s entire Azure and Power Bi environment. A defining feature of the solution is its end-to-end architecture: raw data from multiple source systems is ingested via Azure Data Factory and Logic Apps, transformed and modelled in Azure SQL, and surfaced through purpose-built Power Bl reports – with automated refresh schedules, row level security, and governed workspace management.

A central architectural decision, building a governed Azure data platform as the foundation rather than connecting Power Bl directly to source systems — gave Cuscal a reusable. scalable infrastructure that could support an expanding range of reporting needs across teams and regulatory contexts.
The platform’s ability to ingest structured data from multiple formats, apply consistent business rules, and serve multiple report types from a single SQL layer meant Cuscal was no longer rebuilding the same logic across different tools and spreadsheets.
By transitioning to a single enterprise support arrangement. the partnership evolved into a managed service model that ensures Cuscal’s analytics environment is always maintained, governed, and ready to support new requirements as they emerge.
